A Letter from the Owner

I remember sitting in my little suite thinking to myself “I love this, but…” and that is where the idea of opening a salon began stirring in me. I began to think about what that would look like, feel like, and where the location would be. I remember praying, questioning “Lord, is this what you want me to do?” … “okay, but how am I supposed to open a salon without a name?” “Not this year, next year, right?” I talked to God daily, asking for confirmation that this is what I am supposed to do.

From there I starting gathering inspiration from everywhere and everything that has brought me joy and comfort in life. My thoughts immediately consumed by the peace, warmth, and comfort I feel when camping in the southwest. I wanted to create a space that radiated acceptance and warmth, something I always craved as a stylist.

I wanted the space I create to be an extension of the person I strive to be, warm, inviting, and inspired by God’s beauty in nature. I started to focus on the feeling of the space and knew with that the name would come.

“I wanted to create a ‘you can sit at my table, vibe.’”

Standing in an antique shop I saw a piece of pottery I was drawn to. Holding it in my hands I looked at the hand drawn tag and saw the name “Mesa.” The name Mesa came up again looking at paint swatches, and again when looking at furniture. On my way to work one morning I was thinking about what a Mesa is and how it’s created. A Mesa is a tabletop mountain formed by erosion, creating a flat top with a strong foundation. I knew immediately that this was the perfect representation of my story as a stylist. I thought my goal was to be at the top of a mountain in order to be successful. When truly my story started with creating the firm foundation. I did not want to create a place to stand alone at the top, others below me.  I wanted to create an equal space with a firm foundation where we can all stand together. A “you can sit at my table, vibe.”

Immediately I felt peace, affirmation, and the name Mesa Boutique Salon was born.

It has taken me over a year and I have come to realize that this is only the beginning. Mesa will continue to grow, always.

With love,

Macy
